PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the season-opening trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
